The Chalet Kilauea Collection on the

Volcano Village - Hawaii

Fern Forest
Just outside of the entrance of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park lies Volcano Village.  The Village is part of the sacred lands of "Ola'a", which include Ola'a Forest Reserve and shares the same Ohia and Hapu'u (Tree Fern) Forest and ecosystem along the Park's northeast border.

At an elevation of about 4,000 feet, Volcano can be a refreshing change from the heat of the coastal areas.  To enjoy your visit to Volcano Village and the National Park.  Light layered clothing with a jacket and good walking shoes are recommended.  Rainfall in Volcano's rainforest varies between 100" and 125" yearly, making rain gear also beneficial.  Water, sunscreen, a hat and flashlight also come in handy for lava viewing and other hiking.
